Barefoot Boy, the movie, is a 1938 American children's adventure story.. The film was directed by Karl Brown, It was inspired by the poem of the same name by American writer John Greenleaf Whittier. Kenneth Hale, a pampered, arrogant young child is sent by his papa, John Hale, who has served time in prison for a criminal activity he did not commit, down to the ranch of an old friend, Calvin Whittaker. The barefooted, truthful, and determined Billy Whittaker, his girl, Julia Blaine, her older sibling Pige, and punky Kenneth get involved with a "haunted" residence and a gang of criminals, while Billy helps make a "better male" out of Kenneth.
