The Iron Mask is a 1929 US part-talkie D'Artagnan and The Three Musketeers adventure film directed by Allan Dwan. Some of the film has dialogue, and some feature a synchronized musical score with sound effects and a theme song. The film is an adaptation of the last section of The Vicomte de Bragelonne by Alexandre Dumas, père, which is based on the French legend of the Man in the Iron Mask. Film historian and Fairbanks Biographer. Jeffrey Vance has said of the film, "As a valedictory to the silent screen, The Iron Mask is unsurpassed.
